Corporate Social Responsibility

What is Corporate Social Responsibility?

Corporate social responsibility, or CSR, is a policy which integrates ethical objectives into a firm’s business model. CSR is a philosophy which recognises a firm’s impact from the view of all the stakeholders, not just a simplistic business model built simply for profit. CSR recognises the responsibility of organisations to contribute to the communities in which they work in an altruistic manner.

What can being a Corporate Partner of HSB do for you?

Your organisation can work to make a genuine and tangible difference to the lives of people with disabilities in Burkina Faso, whilst achieving your corporate social responsibility goals. The benefits of being involved in community projects at HSB are multiple, and contribute to building a good reputation for the company through positive PR. This positive PR has further knock-on effects benefiting the business: it contributes to a positive brand image assisting with marketing the company, it increases customer satisfaction in an era of increasing empathy among wealthy nations for those in developing countries, it strengthens inter-business relationships, it feeds through to staff motivation and satisfaction making it easier to recruit quality staff and minimise staff turnover, it helps companies comply with regulatory requirements, and it reduces the risk of damage to the company’s reputation.

How can this partnership help HSB?

Your philanthropy will help HSB to make a sustainable impact on the lives of people with disabilities in Burkina Faso through advocacy of the rights of disabled people, employment, awareness, provision of wheelchairs, social support and education. HSB seeks to meet these objectives through a multiplicity of programmes including disability sport, the Espace Bambino (the only education centre for physically disabled children in Ouagadougou), the welding workshop (run by disabled people who manufacture mobility aids) and the drop-in centre (a source of advice for those affected by disability, and their families).
